Vagabond's Rest is developed and operated by Randy Varnell (aka Jythri) and Scott Elder (aka Barz),
along with the assistance of our man-behind-the-curtain, Brian Huff (aka DocEdyn).
The name "Vagabond's Rest" was originally quipped by Randy Varnell on the MMORPG Friends board (EZBoard)
in May 2001. The name was quickly adopted as the name of the community website representative of the in-game
city of Vagabond's Rest (on Starsider) for the MMORPG
Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided (Sony Online Entertainment). However, due to a breech of security
by certain members of that community, the site was closed in November 2003.
In early 2004, Vagabond's Rest (www.vagabondsrest.com) was reopened as a community for gamers and
roleplayers to keep in-touch and communicate with one another about up-coming MMOs, games, gatherings and
other topics of interest. The community has spanned several games since then, including Everquest II, World of
Warcraft, City of Heroes and City of Villians, to name a few.
We've grown quite a bit since the original incarnation of VR, adding to our ranks in each game that we have an impact
upon, and the name Vagabond's Rest has become synonymous with quality ideas and roleplaying events. We strive
to maintain that persona in each and every thing we do.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a website where gamers and roleplayers of every age and ability can communicate in a
mature, open and friendly community setting. In doing so, we span multiple games with communities, groups and
guilds affiliated with VR. Above all, our primary mission is to foster a sense of community across the gamut of games
that we play, test and participate in, no matter what the medium.
Our Services
Using customized design and interactive web technology, Vagabond's Rest is designed from the ground up to give
gamers, most of whom are avid roleplayers, a place to communicate, learn and grow together and to provide a conduit
for the exchange of ideas, information, insight about the games we play.
