Greetings Bairdne!

It's been too long for me to write down some of my thoughts, and to update you all on status of the guild, but I thought I'd take a few moments here and see if I could do just that.

On our guild activity and daily goals
While we've achieved a few of our early goals, the excitement we all felt as fresh refugees has been replaced, it seems, by tedium as we've been caught up on the mudane tasks assigned to us by Qeynos and the citizens of the city. In doing that, we've unfocused ourselves some from our intial goals, and the heart of the Bairdne goals have been left by the way while we've pursued personal advancement.

No one is more at fault for that than myself, so for that I apologize. It is time, though, to return to what we love and what we do better than most in the land--the art and support of lore and barding.

On our guild library
Harghil has been working diligently on a place for us to record and deposit lore, and do so in great volumes. His work is excellent, but slow. We hope to have something more to show you all very soon, and something that will be quite usable for our purposes.

On recruitment, branches, and membership
We made some headway on identifying the varoius branches of Bairdne, and even appointed several Ollave to achieve those tasks. However, we never completed the definitions of those areas. Therefore, I'm asking for the following:

All branches and the core membership and requirements of Bairdne are to be finished by Sunday, January 9th.

In order of us to progress toward any other goals, we must do this first.

[]============= OOC ===============[]
Friends, now is the time where our first enthusiasm for EQ2 is wearing down a bit, and we need to further our original goals with Bairdne. As several of us have discussed, we can have fun through what EQ2 provides us, and we can also have fun through what we provide ourselves within EQ2--namely, though roleplay, socialization, and the building and running of plots and the like. It's time to get going on that.

The first deadline I've proposed is simply to finish the definition of the guild, and begin advertising that as appropriate.

Secondly, we all need to get back to some RP roots. Bards, we need to compose and start performing regularly--not in mission or quest areas, but in-city, with some heralding of the concerts done prior to their beginning.

Thirdly, we need to get the site finished. Barz is working on this, and should have something usable fairly soon.

Fourth, we need to become the hub of RPers. We know how to pull people together. We know how to drive stories and plot from among us. It's time we take the bull by the horns and begin to make happen what we can make happen.

Fifth, we need to begin to generate RP events. A lot of this revolves around finding creative ways to fabricate encounters or scenes within the world. I would like everyone to begin thinking of good ways to do this. Maybe through a crafting or trade fair; maybe through a large public concert; maybe through a meeting of guild leaders. There are many ways we could do this, but we need to take matters into our own hands.

I just want to re-state to all of you that I'm committed to staying with the Bairdne for quite a while longer. I know we all have other interests, and our EQ2 interest might wax and wane. However, I want to encourage you all that before you abandon what we're doing here, let's give it one big push and see what we can generate. I think we can surprise ourselves, and have a great deal of fun in the process.

[]===========================[]

Listen and live, friend.

Over the holdiay I took a stab at a charter for the Lore branch (House?) of the guild.

I found a name by looking at Gaelic (Irish variant) words for Lore, Historian, etc. I found Senchaid at http://www.tirbriste.org/dmir/CelticCultures/0703/0703.html .

Then I found/formed a motto that is prolly grammatically incorrect but means Seek the Truth (Aimsigh na Fírinne).

Then I identifed the "stations" or level of membership in the house, only three.

Next I described a "process" of discharging the duties of the branch (House?), namely how shall we go about the Lore business?

Finally, I described a set of requirements to enter the Senchaid.

I submitted this to Jythri for approval. He's claimed to have glanced at it, but no feedback yet. So I ask you, is this sufficient forethought and information to respond to Jythri's call for branches defined by this Sunday?
